In order to adapt to the fierce international competition, Crossbridge Energy, which operates the refinery in Fredericia, is implementing an organizational change that means that 11 employees have been laid off. The company announced this in a press release.
"The organizational change is being made to reduce costs so that the company is prepared for a future with continued fierce international competition, which is not helped by the current framework conditions in Denmark and the EU," the release reads.
In total, the company is cutting 19 positions. However, eight have already been found through natural attrition, job changes and merging roles.
The organizational change is not expected to affect production or security of supply. Crossbridge Energy will employ 284 employees and receive daily assistance from up to 100 external subcontractors.
Crossbridge Energy produces 10,000 tons of liquid fuels daily and supplies 40% of Danish consumption. In addition, an even larger amount is exported via the company's port terminal. The refinery is the country's only producer of jet fuel for aircraft.
