It all started with an audio file in which a municipal employee urged to withhold information in a document access about the crisis-stricken Frederikshavn Port. It is an audio file that TV2 Nord was the first to write about, which has triggered a police report.
It is the Liberal Party members in Frederikshavn City Council who have reported the incident. City council member Jens Borup (V) personally submitted the police report on October 15th – and DOI.dk has seen both the report and the police receipt. Jens Borup is very clear about why the Liberal group has now reported the Frederikshavn Municipality administration to the police.
- We have done so because both TV2 Nord and we in the Liberal group have not received all the emails sent between the mayor, the administration and the port management. It turned out that approximately 40 percent were missing. of the emails sent, Jens Borup explains and concludes:
- There is something that the administration did not want to come out with.
The police receipt also shows that the report concerns actions committed at the city hall address in Frederikshavn.
"On 15/10-2024, the police received a report about other abuse of public office/position."
Hope for new times under a new mayor
Jens Borup also believes that the lack of access to documents has something to do with Mayor Birgit Hansen.
- It has all gotten worse since Birgit Hansen has had an absolute majority in the city council. Now we are trying to see what happens on Monday when Birgit Hansen steps down and Karsten Thomsen takes over as mayor, says Jens Borup, who, together with the Liberal Party group in Frederikshavn City Council, is waiting for the police to investigate the case.
Municipal director Thomas Eriksen has not heard anything about the police report, as DOI.dk caught him on the phone, he is on autumn vacation.
- I have not been presented with anything yet, so I cannot comment on it. It is up to the police, says the municipal director, who has tried police reports before:
- It has happened two to three times during my time here as municipal director.
DOI.dk has tried in vain to get a comment from outgoing mayor Birgit Hansen (S).
