AARHUS: Kredsløb, Aarhus' mayor Anders Winnerskjold (S) and councilor Nicolaj Bang (K) have just entered into a new agreement to strengthen the Energispring partnership, which will promote energy savings in the city. The goal is to reduce energy consumption and reach the municipality's climate goals for 2030.
Therefore, there is great potential in getting even more of the city's building owners on board, says mayor Anders Winnerskjold:
- Our largest source of unused energy lies in our energy consumption. Across companies and public institutions, we must therefore increase the efficiency of the way we use energy to a much greater extent than today. The green transition requires a comprehensive expansion of green energy and the electrification of society, he says and continues:
- But green sources of energy are not an inexhaustible resource. Renewable energy and increased energy efficiency are therefore prerequisites for each other when we are to achieve our common and individual climate goals. It is therefore absolutely crucial that we cooperate to achieve savings and share good solutions. In this way, Aarhus will also become a leading example.
Nicolaj Bang, Councillor for Technology and Environment, shares the positive approach to the partnership and also sees great potential in the collaboration.
Energispring consists of building owners and companies such as Arla, Salling Group and Aarhus University. With the new collaboration, the number of members is expected to double by 2025. The partnership will be officially presented on May 15 at Aarhus City Hall.
