European Energy has sold Lidsø solar park in Lolland Municipality to the Nordic solar developer and electricity producer Alight. With a capacity of 215 MW, the park will be one of Denmark's largest solar plants. The Danish developer announced this in a press release.
Construction of the solar park began in the summer of 2024, and it is expected to be commissioned in the summer of 2025. European Energy has secured long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for the project, making it an attractive investment in the Danish renewable energy market. After the sale, the company will continue to be responsible for the operation of the solar park when it is commissioned. The transaction is part of European Energy's strategy to accelerate the spread of renewable energy in Denmark and internationally.
- We are pleased that Alight is taking over Lidsø solar park, a project we have carefully developed and secured with long-term power purchase agreements. European Energy remains committed to Lolland Municipality, where we have several projects under development, says Knud Erik Andersen, CEO of European Energy.
According to Alight's CEO, Warren Campbell, Denmark is a strategic market, and the acquisition of Lidsø solar park marks the start of the company's ambitions to contribute to the Danish energy transition.
- Our acquisition of Lidsø solar park, which European Energy has done a fantastic job developing, will help meet the country's increasing electricity consumption and marks just the beginning of our plans to contribute to Denmark's green transition.
