The Danish Utilities Authority has received many inquiries from, among others, consumers about the price increases that Odsherred Varme announced last week.
The Danish Utilities Authority writes this in a press release.
In 2024, the Danish Utilities Authority asked Odsherred Varme for information about a number of financial matters, including the costs of a major project to roll out district heating. This was done as part of the authority's general task of supervising heating companies' compliance with the price provisions of the Heat Supply Act. The Danish Utilities Authority is in ongoing dialogue with Odsherred Varme on the matter.
The information from Odsherred Varme will form the basis for an assessment of whether there may have been any action taken in violation of the price provisions of the Heat Supply Act, which, among other things, states that heating companies can only include necessary costs in the heat price. The Danish Utilities Authority will also assess whether there is information in the latest inquiries we have received that should be included in the investigation.
The Danish Utilities Authority is not able to comment further on the ongoing case, including providing a more specific time frame for the conclusion of the case.
