Large deficits are leading to extensive cuts at Nordmark Maskinfabrik, which has now implemented extensive layoffs and closed two factories after a year of heavy losses. The number of employees has been reduced from 180 to 100, and the factories in Skagen and Cuxhaven in Germany have been closed. The company, which produces components for offshore wind turbine drivelines and tower structures, has had a total deficit of DKK 21 million over the past three years. In 2024, there was a profit on operations, but closed factories pulled the total result into a deficit of DKK 13 million. This is reported by Nordjyske.
- We have had a tough year. To clean up, we have closed two factories and written off their value. We had too much production capacity, says Henrik Overbye, CEO of Nordmark Maskinfabrik.
Despite the cuts, the factory is optimistic about the future. The market for offshore wind turbines is growing, and the company already has contracts that extend until 2027. Nordmark Maskinfabrik is now investigating opportunities to expand capacity in Sæby to strengthen its position in the market. Therefore, the company also expects a profit in the current financial year.
