Ten million DKK is on its way to the Baltic Energy Island
In 2030, offshore wind farms of three GW will supply power to Denmark, Sweden and Germany. The many turbines will supply energy to what will be Energiø Bornholm. With Energiø Bornholm comes a lot of opportunities, and in order to take advantage of these opportunities, the Baltic Energy Island foundation was set up with the goal of making Bornholm the green hub of the Baltic Sea.
Baltic Energy Island now receives extra support for this task. Thus, in connection with the government's rural plan, 10 million has been set aside. DKK as a grant to the fund, which is already financed by the EU's Regional Fund and the EU's Social Fund as part of the union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the new money brings joy to one of the local members of parliament.
"When Bornholm provides land for so much renewable energy, it must of course also be used to create development, jobs and educational opportunities. So we show a model for how renewable energy can also provide local value creation. This applies to the whole country, after all, that's the goal, writes Lea Wermelin, climate and energy spokesperson for the Social Democrats, on her LinkedIn profile.
