The government has allocated and announced support for a total of approximately DKK 86 billion for a new chip factory that will make the country less vulnerable to geopolitical unrest and re-establish Japan's position as a technological power.

Japan satser stort på at genvinde sin tidligere status som førende halvledernation med udviklingen af verdens mest avancerede mikrochips. Den japanske regering har allerede bevilget 1.000 mia. yen til det statsligt støttede selskab Rapidus, svarende til ca. 48 mia. kr., som fra 2027 skal producere to-nanometer-halvledere i byen Chitose på øen Hokkaido.
