Agreement on the way to a green Bornholm
Bornholm must be a green hub with Energiø Bornholm as the center for green development. That is why the Minister for Business was on Bornholm yesterday for, among other things, to discuss the possibilities for realizing a green business park. The business park must help to ensure that Bornholm utilizes the great potential for growth and development that follows in the wake of the energy island. That's what it says in a press release from the Ministry of Business.
- Denmark's green positions of strength are sought after around the world. But we mustn't sleep during class. Precisely for this reason, we as a government have also done a lot to put even more pressure on the green transition and the development of green solutions. Bornholm plays a central role here. Because it is a textbook example of how the green transition also creates growth and jobs. Today we are taking the next step, which can become an important building block in Bornholm's development, and a strong contribution to Denmark's green position of strength, says Business Minister Morten Bødskov (S).
Unique opportunity
It is a potential that the local mayor can recognise.
Bornholm faces a unique opportunity that can potentially change and develop the entire island. We want to seize that opportunity. The agreement on energy parks is an important step in the right direction if Energiø Bornholm's full potential is to be realised. We look forward to a constructive dialogue about how government involvement and compensation for neighbors and local communities can contribute to green business development and a sustainable society, says mayor Jacob Trøst (C).
The background for the minister's visit is the political agreement on energy parks on land from December 2023 between the government and a broad majority of the parties in the Folketing. based on the same conditions that apply to the energy parks. In autumn 2022, a partnership agreement was concluded on the development of the commercial lighthouse for Bornholm as a hub for the development, testing and demonstration of green energy. The partnership consists of the consortium behind the business lighthouse, the state, Denmark's Business Promotion Board and the board of Erhvervs hus Hovedstadens branch on Bornholm.
A key next step in the development of the business lighthouse is the realization of a business park that will utilize the business potential resulting from the future Energiø Bornholm. A comprehensive road map has now been drawn up for the realization of the business park.
