Ukraine has submitted a draft minerals agreement to the United States, a source from the Ukrainian delegation attending a security conference in the German city of Munich told Reuters. There is no word yet on what the draft agreement specifically entails.

US President Donald Trump has previously floated the idea of ​​a barter deal with Ukraine, in which the war-torn country could provide rare earths and minerals to the United States in exchange for American support.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that US companies are more than welcome to invest in rare earths in Ukraine.

Since the start of the war in 2022, the United States has helped Ukraine with both humanitarian aid and a large amount of weapons and ammunition. Deliveries are expected to continue in the coming months. However, these are measures that were initiated while Joe Biden was president of the United States.

Since Donald Trump's inauguration at the end of January, no new aid packages have been presented to Ukraine. At the same time, the new president has not clearly stated whether the support will continue as before.

The president is not among the participants in the security conference in Munich, which runs from Friday to Sunday. Vice President J.D. Vance and Volodymyr Zelenskyj are participating, however. From the Danish side, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S), Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen (M) and Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen (V) are participating.
